Street Books Presentation

Street Books – A Street Library serving people who live outside and at the margins in Portland, Oregon.

On Sunday, October 13, at 11:45 am in Calvin Library, guest speaker Laura Moulton will share the story of Street Books, a bicycle library for people living outside. She has taught writing in public schools, prisons, and teen shelters. Laura leads writing and art residencies for Literary Arts at Portland-area high schools. She started Street Books in 2011 as a three-month art project, and now it employs multiple librarians, is a registered non-profit with a board of directors, and employs more than ten librarians. Street Books has been featured in national media and has inspired similar programs in other cities.
